Wadi Rum, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Another of Jordan's UNESCO World Heritage sites, this time a natural area in the south of the country associated with British officer T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia). My driver handed me over to a local Bedouin in a very beaten up Four Wheel Drive and we were off into the desert! After crossing the Hejaz Railway I had my photo taken in front of the Seven Pillars of Wisdom rock formation (named after T.E. Lawrence's book) and then arrived at the Wadi Rum visitor centre to sort out the paperwork. We were then off into the Wadi Rum Protected Area to check out the scenery and the petroglyphs at the Khaz'ali Canyon.
