Saint Petersburg, Russia
I had been to Saint Petersburg in 1987, when the USSR still existed and the city was called Leningrad, and so I was looking forward to seeing how it might have changed. Also the first afternoon included a lecture by Mikhail Gorbachev, President of the USSR, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, at the State Academic Capella. After the rain in Tallinn the Nikon was now very sad so I had to resort to using the point and shoot during President Gorbachev's talk. Not a great outcome as no flash was allowed and the point and shoot wasn't great in daylight and even worse in low light. For the remainder of the stay in Saint Petersburg I used both cameras to ensure I got some images although I wasn't trusting the Nikon to keep working.
