Kerak Castle, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
One of the famous Crusader castles in the Middle East. Perhaps not as famous nor as complete as Krak des Chevaliers in Syria but nevertheless quite interesting. Of note were the cavernous rooms within the main castle structure. I ran out of time to visit the museum in the lower court. There might have been some nice sunset images possible but it closed too early for that and we had to drive to the hotel near Petra for the night. My driver thought he knew a short cut to save some time but that seemed ambitious when we had to stop twice to ask for directions as we passed through some small villages off the beaten track. Getting off the highway would have been nice in the daytime but not so much at night.
